Most people choose niches by guessing: fitness, travel, food, and then wonder why their page doesn’t grow. They are too broad, and your page will end up competing with thousands of other pages that are exactly the same as yours.

The real method is to use Facebook Ads Manager as a research tool, not just an ad platform.

The Old-school Method That Still Works For Choosing A Niches

Start in Ads Manager and go to Audience β†’ Detailed Targeting β†’ Browse.

This is where Facebook lets you explore real user interests. Most people stay on broad interests, but the opportunity is in the deep layers.

Instead of stopping at something like fitness, you drill down:

  • Fitness β†’ home workouts

  • Nutrition β†’ plant-based diet

  • Travel β†’ adventure travel

The deeper you go, the more specific and underserved the audience becomes. But be careful: I suggest not going deeper than 2 levels, otherwise the audience may become too small and it will be harder to scale the page.

  • YES: Fitness β†’ home workouts

  • NO: Fitness β†’ home workouts β†’ bodyweight training β†’ gymnastic rings

Now you are not in a general niche like fitness. You are in a specific group of people with a shared lifestyle, β€œHome workouts” in this case.

The workflow is simple:

  1. Open Ads Manager

  2. Drill into interests

  3. Find a cool niche underserved

  4. Be sure is wide enough

  5. Create a page

  6. Start posting

Once you’ve found the niche, you should create the page and start your publishing business. Maybe I’ll write a complete guide in the future about how to start a Facebook publishing business from scratch with just a few hundred dollars in startup investment.
